Summer Classroom Organization #1

Well, I've been a bit busy so far this summer. I've accomplished a few things for school so far. The first was a bit of classroom organization.

Every summer, my mom, a close friend, and I get together once a week to work in each other's rooms. Last week, we worked in my room. Until the floors are waxed, there's not a lot that I can do in my room. However, there is one area that always needs to be reorganized.

This is....

my cabinet

After pulling everything out and a few hours of dedicated organizing, here's the finished product.

It's amazing how messy my cabinet always seems to get by the end of the year. I tried some new organizational ideas last year. Some worked and some did not. One of my big disasters was my anchor chart organization. I tried hanging them on wire close hangers using clothes pins. Most of the time, they would slide off. Then, there were others that were too big to hang in my closet. I would just shove them in and close the door quickly before they popped out.

Organizing anchor charts using plastic clothes hangers, binder rings, and a small trash can

To alleviate this problem, we punched two holes in the anchor charts that would fit when hung up. Then we used binder rings and hung them on plastic clothes hangers (in the little open section on each side). The ones that were too big, we rolled up and put in a small plastic trash can. We used a dry erase marker to write what the chart was on the outside of the roll. We also put command hooks inside the closet. We hung sentence strips (using binder clips) and other items in baggies on the hooks.

I found the white containers at Walmart. They're Sterilite brand. You can label the containers on the colored rectangles with a dry erase marker. They were very reasonable. We stored Minute to Win It games, Unit supplies, and holiday stuff in these containers. The green ones are from The Dollar Tree. I bought them last year (although I did see them again a couple of weeks ago) and used the self adhesive chalkboard roll from Hobby Lobby. I used my grandmother's Cricket machine to cut them out.

It still looks a little messy since I had to put a few things that were on a table in here. We have to have all tables and most of our book shelves cleared for the cleaning and waxing. After my room's cleaned, I'll try to add more detailed pictures.
