Strawberry Chocolate Chip Trifle

Strawberry Chocolate Chip Trifle

I came up with this one on the fly for Father's Day. It is a super easy dessert.

I also have an alternative for those that don't do strawberries, like my father in-law.

Strawberry Chocolate Chip Trifle

Ingredients:

2 packages of lady fingers (you can also use either sugar cookies or shortbread cookies, many options here)
1 large container of strawberries, chopped
1 package milk chocolate chips
1 16 oz. container Cool Whip
3 crushed graham crackers

Directions:

Put a handful or so of chocolate chips in a bowl to the side. In the Cool Whip container (or another bowl), combine the Cool Whip and chocolate chips. In a trifle bowl, line the sides and bottom with lady fingers. Next, add half of the strawberries. Then, add half of the Cool Whip mixture. Top with another layer of lady fingers (just on the bottom) and the rest of the strawberries and Cool Whip. Finally, top with the remaining chocolate chips and crushed graham crackers.

As an alternative to strawberries, I used a can of cherries in water. This would also be good with peaches, bananas, or even cherry pie filling.

Anyway, this dessert was a huge hit! I hope you enjoy it.
