Story Stones and Clothes Pins

Sorry it took so long to post this. I couldn't find the pictures.

Anyway, I'm sure many of you are like me and are scrambling to get projects done this summer. Well, I finally completed some this past weekend. One of the projects was scrapbooking some clothes pins for one of my bulletin boards.

This was super easy. I just cut out scrapbook paper to fit my clothes pins and Modge Podged them on. I only ran into one problem. Some of my clothes pins were longer than the paper I cut out. Ugh! I didn't realize that I had two different sizes of clothes pins. Luckily it didn't take much to fix.

Also, I finally got around to creating story stones. I keep seeing them on Pinterest and I've been dying to make them, but who has time during the school year?

I read several blogs before I began and one suggested drawing the objects with a pencil, then filling in with white paint so that the colors would pop. This worked quite well.

Now I am not an artist. I have no skills and can barely draw stick figures. I was very excited when you could halfway tell what some of mine were.

I purchased the container at Walmart in the disposable food storage section (with the Ziplocks and such). There were 3 in a pack and they are the perfect size.

Here's a list of what I painted on the stones to give you some ideas:

magic wand
arrow
balloon
rainbow
castle
beanstalk
bed
tree
star
money
kite
spaceship
flower
water
paw
tent
bird
fish
fire
rain
key
boat
sun

Have I mentioned that I'm not an artist? If I could do these, so can you.

Adventures in Room 5 has a great free printable for your students to use with the story stones.
