Poetry 3

This week, we wrote concrete poems in class. I shared a lot of examples with them first and write one on the document camera so they could see how to create a concrete poem.

To come up with ideas, I had them make a list of things they could draw and write a poem about. One student came up with the idea of a sketched list. Instead of using words to make a list, he quickly drew his list on his paper.


After they made their list, they began writing their rough drafts.


Finally, we published. Here are some of their poems.






They all did such a great job with their poems. Once again, I used a grading checklist to grade their poems. You can download it here.
